Don’t Carry Batteries in your pocket
Batteries + Keys/Change = Disaster. If you have keys/change in your pocket with your battery, it can complete a circuit between the negative and positive end of your batteries. This can result to the batteries “venting” and setting on fire. If you must have extra batteries with you, use a battery case.
Mods getting hot isn’t uncommon, it’s when they get so hot it starts to be uncomfortable is when you should be cautious. If this happens just put it down for a bit and let it cool down. If this happens regularly this could be an indication there may be something wrong with the device or the device has poor ventilation for the batteries.
Keep out of Reach of Children/Pets
You should be keeping all vape related items away from children/pets. A lot of components of vaping (including batteries) are choking hazards.
Don’t Leave Mods/Batteries in Car
Heat is the arch enemy to batteries, especially when it comes from an external source such as a hot car left in a the sun. Heat can ruin your batteries and cause the to “vent” out as well. Heat not only ruins your batteries but can also melt the computer chip found in most mods today and ruin any e-liquid left in the car by thinning the liquid out.
Good battery chargers are a must for devices that take multiple batteries. Invest in either a Nitecore or Efest brand chargers. Cheaper battery chargers can overcharge your batteries, causing them to vent or blow up in the charger. Also “marrying” your batteries so they charge and discharge at the same rate is important so no unexpected issues arise.
Battery Wrap Damage
The plastic wrap around the battery is there for a reason, to protect your batteries from shorting out. This is especially important for devices that have metal around where the battery is housed. If you see scratches or rips in your battery wrap, get them rewrapped or buy new batteries.
(Advanced) Proper Discharge Rate
This tip is mostly for people with or looking into mechanical mods. Mechanical mods have no computer chips that regulate your batteries, so it entirely depends on the build. The main part is making sure the discharge rate doesn’t exceed what the battery allows for. Using website such as steam-engine allow you to do the math on your batteries easily, you will want to look at the battery and see how many amps it can handle (ex. 25A).
